The challenge runs in Resident Evil 4 HD and my first completion of Dark Fall: The Journal both dominated all of July, the rest felt pretty meh. Unforgiving: A Northern Hymn - 4h50m / 100% (2 playthroughs)

Whether that be Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars as a perfect entryway into the world of RPGs or The Wolf Among Us for being a unique and fun take on the "fairytales in real-life" trope or X-Men Origins: Wolverine for being a case of when the video game adaptation of a movie outdoes the film its based on with stellar action and tight controls.Īragami: Nightfall - 7h35m / 100% (2 playthroughs)ĭark Fall: The Journal - 11h25m / 100% - BESTĭementium HD - 6h20m / 100% (2 playthroughs) Personal Recommendation: Basically anything from my completions this month that isn't below a 7/10 is something I'd say is worth your time. Least Favorite: While Wrecking Crew is a bloated mess, I still feel as though Ice Climbers deserves this spot more for at least finding a way to be engaging before spoiling any and all fun to be had with its horrendous controls and a design-style that's built to actively work against the player. The former has some of the best gunplay and level design I have ever seen from a first person shooter while the latter has been one of the most addictive rhythm games I've ever played with some outstanding music. Most Favorite: This spot goes to either Doom (2016) or Muse Dash. Hopefully I can have my main focus on Yakuza, have a side focus on COD, and then have my sister join me to play either The Ascent or Gears of War.Ġ7/11- The Wolf Among Us - Episode 1: Faith (10/10)Ġ7/11- The Wolf Among Us - Episode 2: Smoke and Mirrors (8/10)Ġ7/11- The Wolf Among Us - Episode 3: A Crooked Mile (8/10)Ġ7/12- The Wolf Among Us - Episode 4: In Sheep's Clothing (8/10)Ġ7/12- The Wolf Among Us - Episode 5: Cry Wolf (9/10)Ġ7/20- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (8/10) Only one completion and it was total garbage. It will definitely be a hell of a lot better than this month for sure. You can however read my Backlog Blog about it I guess.Īnyways, I'm hoping to finish Yakuza Kiwami in August and I might play Call of Duty: Black Ops for the first time in over a decade and a couple other COD Games in general, but we'll see how this month progresses. I don't want to invoke any bad memories of this game again.

Well, I could technically rant about Entropy: Zero here, talk about the bullshit level design, how they expect you to kill 100 fast zombies in a cramped room with your shitty flashlight visor, how you can't figure out how to get out of traps meaning you die every time you fall into one, the huge amount of recoil the guns have, the buffed damage on everything making the game on the easiest difficulty (which I always play on) one of the most infernally frustrating games ever made, the short attention span story with the brain of a 5 Year Old, but I won't. *SIGH* Only one game this month, but holy shit I hated this one and it's one of the worst things I've ever played. I'd rather not recall Ethan: Meteor Hunter at all, but what I will say is that it is an expression of contempt upon the player. It is the video game equivalent of an edgy teen's poetry journal, nothing but a disjointed sausage chain of spooky ideas and headache-inducing combat. Just below this, you have The Turing Test and Momonga Pinball Adventures, neither of which are bad games, but TTT is painfully derivative of better "philosophy-dense puzzle" games like The Talos Principle or SOMA while Momonga is a relatively harmless attempt to fuse pinball and adventure games. For a game with such immaculate attention to detail, game world dynamics, and characterization of the Joker to fail at basic storytelling or deliver enticing challenges is nothing short of criminal. Hovering just above the rest is Batman: Arkham Knight, a mechanically sound game with an addictive yet somehow entirely unsatisfying gameplay loop.

Sorry if I say mean things about a game you like. WORST: There's a clear winner here, and that's Ethan: Meteor Hunter, but I sort of feel like it's my duty to say that everything other than the two games I listed above is mediocre at best and probably not worth your time. I don't know if I'd call either of them "great," but I definitely came away with more positive impressions than negative.

Giana Sisters is a really tight and fast-paced platformer that felt true to the N64/PS1 era of 2.5D platformers while Scooby-Doo was a surprisingly competent take on a 3D metroidvania. BEST: There were really only two games this month that I actually liked, so I'll call it a draw between Giana Sisters and Scooby-Doo.
